Subject Leader of Drama and Theatre Studies – Secondary School – September 2025 Start

Salary: MPS – UPS + TLR 2.3 (Inner London Pay Scale)

We are seeking a hardworking, ambitious, and dynamic Subject Leader of Drama and Theatre Studies to join a thriving and high-achieving secondary school in South West London. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a growing Drama department in an Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ school with excellent teaching and learning facilities.

About the Role: Subject Leader – Drama and Theatre Studies

As Subject Leader, you will take full ownership of the Drama and Theatre Studies curriculum across Key Stage 3 (KS3), Key Stage 4 (KS4), and Sixth Form (KS5). You will be responsible for delivering exceptional teaching standards, developing an engaging and progressive curriculum, supporting staff development, and ensuring excellent student outcomes.

You will play a key role in shaping the cultural and creative life of the school, while collaborating with fellow department heads to drive whole-school achievement.

* Lead and manage the Drama and Theatre Studies department effectively
* Raise attainment and progress across all key stages
* Provide professional support to Drama teachers
* Contribute to the wider school community and enrichment opportunities

Ideal Candidate Profile: Subject Leader of Drama and Theatre Studies

We are looking for a candidate who meets the following criteria:

* Holds QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification
* Holds a degree in Drama and Theatre Studies or a closely related subject
* Has at least three years’ high school teaching experience
* Has a proven track record of teaching Drama
* Demonstrates strong leadership and organisational skills
* Is an excellent communicator who can inspire students and colleagues
* Has in-depth knowledge of curriculum planning, assessment, and student progress tracking
