Meet the Teaching Agency on the Isle of Wight

The Isle of Wight is now home to one of our newest teaching agency offices, which is based in Cowes on the Northern side of the Island, and officially opened in July 2015. The office is the “little brother” to our Portsmouth office. Academics are very proud to be the only Education Recruitment Company with an Isle of Wight office. As the teaching agency on the Isle of Wight, we specialise in long term and permanent recruitment for all schools across the Island and already has a number of schools working in partnership with Academics. In addition, the office runs a successful daily supply list which is available to all schools. The Island is a very unique place, and Academics are proud to serve the local community and have local experts working as part of our teaching recruitment team.

Nigel Mason Nigel Mason

Nigel recently joined Academics after running his own independent education supply agency on the Isle of Wight. With nearly twenty five years’ experience of teaching, middle, and senior leadership within schools and colleges, as well as management experience within motorway services, Nigel has experienced many of the problems schools and colleges face in maintaining a full, consistent and high quality staffing complement. Nigel studied Hospitality Management at university before working in the catering industry. Shortly afterwards he began his teaching career, qualifying as a teacher and also achieving a post graduate Diploma in Management Studies. Nigel is married with three grown up children, and has lived on the Isle of Wight for twenty five years. He is a very keen cyclist and supports the South Coast football team who gained promotion to the premiership this season!

Before working in recruitment Steve was a Secondary teacher. Steve is also a former governor, has a passion for rugby having played for 11 years, but since retiring from the game spends more time out on the water Kayaking or learning to Sail.
