Meet the Teaching Agency in Isle of Wight
The Isle of Wight is now home to one of our newest teaching agency offices, which is based in Ryde on the Eastern side of the Island, and officially opened in July 2015. The office is the “little brother” to our Portsmouth office. Academics are very proud to be the only Education Recruitment Company with an Isle of Wight office, and we are also in the unique position of being in the grounds of one of our clients, Ryde Academy. The teaching agency on Isle of Wight office specialises in long term and permanent recruitment for all schools across the Island and already has a number of schools working in partnership with Academics. In addition, the office runs a successful daily supply list which is available to all schools. The Island is a very unique place, and Academics are proud to serve the local community and have local experts working as part of our teaching recruitment team.
Nigel recently joined Academics after running his own independent education supply agency on the Isle of Wight. With nearly twenty five years’ experience of teaching, middle, and senior leadership within schools and colleges, as well as management experience within motorway services, Nigel has experienced many of the problems schools and colleges face in maintaining a full, consistent and high quality staffing complement. Nigel studied Hospitality Management at university before working in the catering industry. Shortly afterwards he began his teaching career, qualifying as a teacher and also achieving a post graduate Diploma in Management Studies. Nigel is married with three grown up children, and has lived on the Isle of Wight for twenty five years. He is a very keen cyclist and supports the South Coast football team who gained promotion to the premiership this season!
Steve grew up on the Island and went to school locally. He has worked in Education Recruitment for the last 7 years and previously managed teams in London. In 2014 Steve relocated back home to the Island and took over the running of our Portsmouth office which he still oversees but now divides his time between the Isle of Wight and the Portsmouth Offices. Before working in recruitment Steve was a Secondary teacher and taught A-Level Law, Business and Critical Thinking. Steve is also a school governor, has a passion for rugby having played for the past 10 years, recently joining the Isle of Wight Rugby Club. Steve and his wife also celebrated the birth of their first child last year.
