PRU Teaching Assistant – Full-Time, Permanent Role

Are you a compassionate and resilient professional with a passion for supporting young people who face challenges in mainstream education? We're seeking a dedicated PRU Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive Pupil Referral Unit setting in Luton.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or youth mentor who thrives in dynamic environments and wants to make a meaningful impact by working with students who require additional behavioural, emotional, and academic support.

About the Role – PRU Teaching Assistant

In this full-time, permanent position, you will:

* Support students who have been referred from mainstream schools due to behavioural or emotional difficulties
* Work closely with small groups or 1:1 to provide tailored academic and pastoral support
* Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to implement individual learning and behaviour plans
* Help students build self-esteem, manage behaviour, and re-engage with learning
* Promote a safe, nurturing, and structured environment that supports emotional growth and academic progress

Who We’re Looking For:

* Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to education
* Calm, patient, and adaptable, with a strong presence and positive attitude
* Excellent communication and de-escalation skills
* Experience working with students with SEMH, behavioural needs, or in PRU/alternative settings is desirable
* Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, or care are an advantage but not essential
