Are you a psychology or criminology graduate with a passion for supporting young people facing emotional and behavioural challenges as an SEMH Teaching Assistant?

Would you thrive in a dynamic school environment as a SEMH Teaching Assistant where no two days are the same, and your work can genuinely change lives in Stevenage?

We’re working with a forward-thinking secondary school in Stevenage that’s looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is the perfect role for someone considering a career in the education and training sector as a educational psychologist, youth justice, mental health, or social worker.

🌱 About the Role:

* Support students aged 11–16 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
* Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, and external agencies to provide tailored support
* Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions, promoting emotional regulation, self-esteem, and resilience
* Be a positive role model, helping students re-engage with education in a safe, structured environment

👤 Who We’re Looking For:

* A recent psychology or criminology graduate (2:1 or above preferred)
* Passionate about making a real impact on the lives of vulnerable young people
* Calm, empathetic, and able to build trusting relationships
* The ability to commute to Stevenage.
* Previous experience with young people or vulnerable groups (voluntary or paid) is a bonus, but not essential

🎓 Why This Role?

* Ideal stepping stone into educational psychology, social care, or youth offending services
* Extensive on-the-job training and the chance to work alongside multi-agency professionals
* Supportive school environment that values mental health and trauma-informed practice
* Potential for a permanent contract and further professional development
