Primary School (Part-Time, Barry)

We are looking for a dedicated and reliable caretaker to join our team at a primary school in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in a school setting, looking for flexibility and part-time hours. The role will involve split shifts: one in the morning and one late afternoon, providing a balanced work-life schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

* Ensure the cleanliness and general upkeep of the school premises, including classrooms, corridors, toilets, and outdoor areas.
* Maintain the school's heating, lighting, and water systems, reporting any faults to the relevant authorities.
* Set up and prepare areas for events, activities, and assemblies.
* Carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks where necessary or liaise with external contractors for more complex issues.
* Ensure safety procedures are followed, including checking fire exits, alarms, and emergency equipment.
* Monitor the security of the school, locking and unlocking premises as required, and ensuring the safety of staff and students.
* Assist with deliveries, moving furniture or equipment as needed.
* Undertake regular cleaning duties to maintain a safe and clean environment for staff and pupils.

Ideal Candidate:

* Previous experience working as a caretaker or in a similar role within a school or educational setting is highly desirable.
* Practical knowledge of general maintenance, cleaning, and health and safety protocols.
* Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
* Flexible and reliable, with a willingness to take on a variety of tasks.
* Friendly, approachable, and committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.
* DBS check required (we can assist with this process if needed).

Working Hours:

* Split shifts TBC
* Flexibility for part-time hours, ideal for someone looking to balance work with other commitments.
