Behaviour Mentor – Criminology Graduates

Full Time – ASAP Start

Are you passionate about helping promoting young people’s mental well-being? Could you help students approach and handle different social, emotional and mental health needs?

An outstanding school in the Newbury, West Berkshire area have a role available for a criminology graduate to join their support staff team as a Behaviour Mentor on a full time basis. The specialist school supports students with varying social, emotional and mental health needs. In the role of a Behaviour Mentor, you will be supporting students that have additional needs, with some facing challenges relating to developmental trauma and neglect. Your role is to provide these young people with the required consistency and patience in order to help them achieve an education. Students at this school will benefit from 1-1 guidance and support, helping them to regulate their thoughts and process their emotions in a healthy manner.

Criminology graduates will find the role of Behaviour Mentor to be an AMAZING chance to gain frontline experience and mentoring from professionals based at the school, learning communication skills and how to support children with considerable emotional needs in a classroom environment. This interactive and hands on experience will be invaluable if you are looking to go after a career in Psychology, Therapy, Counselling or even Criminal Justice.

The successful candidate should be proactive, empathetic and confident in their ability to take the initiative in order to provide these young people with high quality care and support. Graduates (Psychology, Criminology, Sociology etc) are encouraged to apply, experience with SEN/SEMH children and/or adults is very desirable but not mandatory.
