Chef - Full Time - Reading

A fantastic school in Reading are looking to welcome a Chef to their team this term, to provide catering services for their students and staff on a term time basis!
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and deliver meal and snack plans tailored to the dietary and sensory needs of young people
* Ensure meals are varied, balanced, and cost-effective, while being enjoyable for the young people
* Lead and motivate kitchen staff, fostering high performance and engagement
* Communicate clearly regarding the ordering, preparation, and delivery of food
* Maintain high standards of health, safety, food hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness
* Manage inventory, stock rotation, and accurate record-keeping of food supplies
* Oversee special functions or events as needed, including out-of-hours catering
* Work closely with the Business Manager to ensure best practices are followed
* Support and collaborate with education and support staff to build young people’s cooking skills
* Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations and health and safety standards
Skills & Experience:
* Previous experience in kitchen management, ideally in a care or educational setting
* Strong leadership and team management skills
* Knowledge of dietary requirements, allergen awareness, and food safety standards
* Ability to work under pressure and handle administrative duties effectively
* Creativity in menu planning and cost management
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
