Aspiring Youth Outreach Worker – Slough
Start Date: Immediate – Full-Time
Attention Psychology Graduates!

Are you a passionate graduate eager to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people? Are you interested in helping teenagers make positive choices and steer clear of a life of crime? If you aspire to become a Youth Outreach Worker and seek hands-on experience supporting children with mental health needs, this opportunity is for you!

A specialist provision in Sloug is looking for a patient, proactive, and compassionate graduate to join their team as an SEMH Teaching Assistant. In this role, you will provide one-on-one support, assist in managing emotional well-being, and help create a positive learning environment for students facing social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. This is an ideal opportunity for graduates looking to gain experience in the mental health and youth sectors.

The students you will support experience a range of complex mental health challenges, including difficulties in emotional regulation, low self-esteem, and attachment issues. Your role will involve demonstrating the value of learning and education while promoting positive decision-making and personal safety. You will implement intervention strategies grounded in psychological and criminological theory to help improve their interpersonal skills for a successful transition beyond school.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will gain invaluable experience supporting teenagers who need emotional and behavioral support. You will collaborate closely with mental health professionals on-site to ensure every child reaches their full potential, while also receiving training in behavior management and safeguarding. This role will equip you with the skills and confidence needed for a future in youth outreach or criminal justice—making it a perfect fit for graduates.

The Slough School is looking for a graduate who is empathetic, resilient, and possesses excellent communication skills. A background in Psychology, Criminology, Social Work, or Education would be beneficial.
