A Special Needs school, in the heart of Chippenham, are looking for a Special Needs Classroom Assistant to join their team and support students with additional needs. The students are aged 5 to 16 and have a range of special educational needs, such as Autism, ADHD, behaviour needs, mental health issues, physical disabilities or communication difficulties. The students therefore need someone who understands their needs and wants to support them so they can receive the best education possible.
As a Special Needs Classroom Assistant, your day to day will involve supporting the students in the classroom with their learning. You will help them with their class work and ensure they understand the task at hand. You will also help with an array of activities, including PE, sensory time, life skills and cooking! This is a school where no two days are the same so you will need to be flexible and ready to adapt as each day comes. Behaviour management and personal care may also be required.
The school are keen to find a graduate or experienced TA with a positive attitude, caring personality and a passion for helping others. If you can bring fun and excitement to the classroom, then this is the school for you!
By working as a Classroom Assistant, you will gain crucial first-hand experience in the classroom before undertaking your teacher training.
