Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work closely with a Year 7 boy with Autism. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the life of a young learner, providing vital support and guidance in both academic and personal development.
Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one support to the designated student with Autism, assisting with academic tasks and fostering independence.
* Implement strategies and interventions to support the student's learning and social integration within the school environment.
* Establish a trusting and supportive relationship with the student, serving as a positive male role model.
* Collaborate with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and teaching staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
* Monitor and record the student's progress, highlighting areas of strength and areas for development.
* Support the student during transitions between lessons and activities, ensuring a smooth and positive experience.
* Communicate effectively with parents and other professionals involved in the student's care, providing regular updates on progress and addressing any concerns.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children or young people with Autism or other SEN conditions is essential.
* Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and familiarity with evidence-based interventions and approaches.
* Male candidates are preferred, as the student responds better to a male role model.
* Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
* Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support or education are advantageous.
