A Special School in Wakefield is looking for a caring and experienced Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team. The school caters for children and young people from 4 to 18 years with various need including Autism, Learning Disabilities and Downs Syndrome. If you are patient, understanding and up for a challenge then this role will be perfect for you.
The school is looking for a full-time Behaviour Support Assistant to start as soon as possible until the end of the academic year and beyond.
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
* To ensure child care plans are followed accurately so the needs and requirements of each child are met.
* To help run exciting and stimulating activities to aid the pupils’ sensory skills and development.
* To work alongside other support staff and assist with behaviour management where needed.
* Building strong rapport with the pupils in your care to help them feel comfortable and relaxed.
* To support pupils with personal care if required.
To qualify as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, experience working with children and young people with learning disabilities is required to demonstrate your knowledge of how to support young people with special needs. This can be professional or personal experience, such as supporting a family member with additional needs.
