Learning Support Assistant - Lymington
Academics are seeking experienced Learning Support Assistants to join an SEN School in the New Forest area. These are full-time positions with ASAP Starts, on a temp to perm basis.
The school caters for pupils aged 7-19 years who are diagnosed with aspergers syndrome and other associated needs on the autistic spectrum. You will be required to support pupils across the school in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
Due to the location of the school you must have a vehicle to be able to get on site.
There are no public transport links to the school.
The suitable candidates ideally will have experience of supporting children with special educational needs, ideally within an SEN environment and you must have a Maths & English GCSE, Grad C or above.
You should be empathetic, nurturing, be able to manage varying levels of challenging behaviour and have the ability to think on your feet and adapt to situations.
This is a challenging environment to work in, but also very rewarding. Children who attend this school do display various levels of challenging behaviour combined with other complex needs. This role is suited to someone who enjoys the variation of working in this type of environment and with a passion and love for working with and supporting children with special educational needs.
You may be required to work in a year group as a general TA or be working on a 1:1 with a Young Person. The school requires support to be consistent but with needs of the school change and to cover absence etc, TA’s may be directed to work in another year group, or class or with a different 1:1 Young Person.
Hours: 08.30 – 16.30 Monday – Thursday & 08.30 – 16.00hrs Friday
Working 39 weeks a year (term time only role)
You will require either a clear child & adult workforce related DBS which is on the DBS update service, or be required to pay for a new one to be processed.
