Job Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistant (Autism Specialist)

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

A leading primary special school in Croydon, dedicated to providing exceptional education and support to children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). This School prides itself on its nurturing and inclusive environment, where every child is valued and supported to reach their full potential.

Role Overview: We are seeking a committed and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team on a long-term basis. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting children with autism, ensuring they receive the tailored assistance they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with autism across various age groups.
* Assist in the planning and delivery of individualized learning activities and interventions, tailored to the specific needs of each student.
* Support students in developing social skills, communication, and independence.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to implement personalized education plans (PEPs) and behavior management strategies.
* Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels safe, valued, and respected.
* Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team and contributing to progress reviews and meetings.

Requirements:

* Previous experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders is highly desirable.
* A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs and a commitment to the school's ethos.
* Availability and commitment to a long-term position within the school.
* Level 3 qualifications in education, childcare, or a related field are preferable, although candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
* Willingness to undergo training and professional development opportunities provided by the school.
