Exciting Opportunity: Autism Support Worker in Wokingham!

A wonderful opportunity has emerged for an Autism Specialist Worker in a delightful mainstream primary school in Wokingham. If you possess a caring and compassionate nature, coupled with a kind and encouraging demeanour, seize this opportunity now!

Responsibilities:

As an Autism Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in providing assistance to students grappling with Autism as their primary diagnosis. These students also contend with additional needs, such as speech and language difficulties, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and various learning requirements. Many of them also face challenges related to social, emotional, and mental health needs.

In this dynamic role, you'll be at the heart of students' educational journeys, providing invaluable support throughout the school day. With many students having individualized educational health care plans, your ability to adapt your approach to meet their specific needs will be key. Moreover, you'll collaborate with the class teacher to employ specialized techniques, ensuring a positive and inclusive classroom environment by effectively de-escalating any challenging behaviours. Get ready to make a real difference in the lives of these students with your compassionate and adaptable approach!

Beyond academic support, you'll also assist the class teacher with various responsibilities, including lesson planning and preparation, classroom organization, behaviour supervision, and monitoring student progress.

The Successful Candidate:

The ideal Autism Support Worker will possess a calm demeanour, excel under pressure, and exhibit a positive and encouraging personality. While prior experience working with children is desirable, eagerness to learn is essential. Experience with children having additional needs is advantageous but not mandatory.

Candidates must hold an enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to apply for one. Understanding the significance of safeguarding in schools is imperative.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a new challenge. It is also suitable for aspiring educational psychologists, counsellors, and behaviour therapists. While providing valuable experience working with children with additional needs, the role is immensely fulfilling, offering the satisfaction of making a tangible difference in young lives every day.
