Supply Teacher

Location: Schools across Worcester/ Worcestershire

Pay: £115-£135 per day. Depending on experience.

Are you at qualified teacher fed up with the vigorous workload being put on your shoulders? Do you feel like you are drowning in a sea of a never ending prepping and marking? Tired of getting home and never being able to completely switch off, dreading starting the day all over again tomorrow?

Well, safe to say you aren’t the only one that feels this way. Did you know that in the academic year 2021/2022 a record breaking 39,930 teachers left the profession which was 8.8% of the workforce? The most recent figures have not yet been released from the Department of Education but it may not be a surprise if that number has increased. Clearly, there is something systemically worrying which is causing teachers to pack their bags and run for the hills.

Why? According to NASUWT, 68% of teachers leave their permanent roles to become a supply teacher for a better work life balance, 62% because of the workload and 36% because they have felt demoralised. I am sure that if you’re a teacher reading this, those statistics will not come as a surprise to you. Perhaps you may even see yourself or your colleagues in those statistics which is the very reason you’re reading a job opening for a supply teacher…

Do you know what the benefits of becoming a supply teacher are?

* It is a great opportunity to grow your network and build relationships with staff and schools creating future opportunities along the way. You never know who you might meet!
* If you have been on a career break, it is a great way to get back into the classroom and build your confidence back up.
* It also gives you the flexibility to take back control of your own schedule. How much or how little you want to work is completely up to you. The power is in your hands…for the first time.
* The big one…No planning, prepping or marking.

A previous individual who has delved into the wonderful world of being a supply teacher has contended that she “loved the freedom and flexibility, and being able to get home at a reasonable time and be able to completely switch off from work.” They seem like such little things, but being able to indulge in these little comforts are what make life, life.

If you would like to win back these comforts, continue developing your skills in a career that you love and are based in Worcester/ Worcestershire then please get in touch with me, Sara Ahmed, for further details and a lovely chat!
