Becoming a Cover Supervisor may be the perfect role for you to begin!
Cover Supervisors are now a regular feature in Secondary Schools across Hampshire. Local Secondary Schools will use a Cover Supervisor in place of the teacher to deliver a lesson and manage behaviour in the class.
You will not be expected to 'teach' the lesson and any work will be pre-planned for you.
There are no formal qualifications required to apply to be a Cover Supervisor, although a reasonable level of literacy and numeracy is desired. You will also require a degree of flexibility due to the nature of the role.
If you are considering training to become a teacher then the role of Cover Supervisor can be very helpful in making that final decision. This would suit someone going into Teacher Training looking for extra classroom time, PGCE students, Sports Coaches, Instructors/Lecturers from an FE background and TA/HLTA's looking to make the step into teaching in Secondary schools.
