Academics are working with Secondary SEN schools in Liverpool and on the Wirral who are looking for inspirational and optimistic SEN Teachers who can demonstrate a keen ability to believe in and support students with Special Needs.
You will be working with pupils aged from 11 to 18 years of age, the schools support students with a range of needs including: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and Severe learning difficulties (SLD).
Experience supporting young people with Special Needs is vital. Experience with non-verbal communication, managing behaviour and supporting with personal cares will be useful. This is a role for people keen to make a long-term difference in the lives of SEN learners and improving their skills and increasing their opportunities for more independent living. The SEN Teacher will have a strong belief in the ability of their pupils, encouraging and building independence, developing communication and consistently providing opportunities for engagement.
The SEN Teacher will:
* Confidently use verbal and non-verbal techniques to support communication * Have a strong understanding of Autism and Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties * Experience using positive behaviour management techniques * Have QTS and training to support pupils with special needs
