SEN Tutor – Kettering– GCSE & Functional Skills
£30 per hour | Flexible Hours | Long & Short-Term Assignments | Home & Community-Based
Are you passionate about helping young people with Special Educational Needs re-engage with education, catch up with missed learning and work towards their GCSEs or Functional Skills qualifications?
You will work with learners on a 1:1 basis within home and community settings, helping them identify gaps in their learning and make meaningful progress towards GCSEs, Functional Skills and wider educational goals.
Assignments can range from short-term interventions to longer-term placements, offering flexibility while allowing you to build strong, positive relationships with your learners.
The Role
* Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition to children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs.
* Support learners to catch up with missed GCSE learning and develop Functional Skills.
* Focus on key areas such as English and Maths, supporting learners towards recognised qualifications.
* Identify gaps in knowledge and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs.
* Re-engage learners who may have experienced barriers to education, including EBSA.
* Build confidence, motivation and positive attitudes towards learning.
Requirements
* Previous experience supporting children or young people is preferred but not essential.
* A good understanding of Special Educational Needs is desirable.
* Experience supporting learners with EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance) would be advantageous.
* Strong English and Maths skills, with the ability to support GCSE and/or Functional Skills learning.
* Access to your own vehicle and a full UK driving licence is essential due to travel between learners.
* A patient, adaptable and compassionate approach.
* The ability to build positive relationships with young people who may have lost confidence in education.
