If yes, then you can be the role model these children need as a Learning Support Assistant.

An innovative and friendly specialist school located in Abingdon are seeking a proactive and excitable Learning Support Assistant to join their team in September. The pupils in this school have Autism, ADHD, cognitive difficulties, speech and language needs, behaviour challenges and moderate learning needs. They therefore need a Learning Support Assistant who can help to enhance their learning and social skills, as well as their emotional well being.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be based in the classroom, providing 1-2-1 support for pupils, as well as guiding small group activities. You will help to increase their interpersonal skills, communication and everyday life skills, and also provide support to the class teacher. Above everything else, you will help make the classroom a fun and exciting learning environment!

The ideal Learning Support Assistant will have previous experience working with children and/or adults with learning disabilities. This could be in a professional capacity or from personal experience. A degree in a relevant field would also be desirable, such as Psychology, Sociology or Criminology, or a Level 3 qualification in childcare. The school are looking for someone who is self-motivated, resilient and nurturing.
