We are currently seeking a reliable and caring Catering Assistant to join an SEN Specialist School in Welwyn Garden City, supporting learners within an education and training environment.
This Catering Assistant role in Welwyn Garden City is ideal for someone who enjoys working in education and training and understands the importance of providing nutritious, well-prepared meals to support learners’ wellbeing in a specialist SEN setting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals to learners and staff within an education setting
* Ensuring food is prepared and presented safely, in line with dietary requirements and allergens
* Maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen and dining areas
* Supporting the catering team with daily kitchen duties
* Creating a calm, safe, and supportive environment for learners during mealtimes
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Have previous experience as a Catering Assistant or within a catering or kitchen environment (school or SEN experience within education is desirable but not essential)
* Be patient, compassionate, and understanding of the needs of children with SEN
* Have a good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety procedures
* Be reliable, organised, and able to work effectively as part of a team
* Be willing to undergo relevant safeguarding and compliance checks required in education and training
