Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Secondary School in Southampton

Academics are supporting a secondary school in Southampton in recruiting a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled practitioner to play a key role in supporting teaching staff and contributing to the development, progress, and wellbeing of learners across the school.
About the Role:
The successful HLTA will assist with the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons—both whole-class and individual—ensuring that all students receive high-quality support. You will prepare learning resources, contribute to assessing student progress, and provide structured feedback to class teachers to help meet each learner’s needs.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver targeted interventions, including support for students with SEMH needs

Assist in lesson planning and delivery under teacher direction
*
Provide 1:1 and small group support
*
Help maintain a nurturing, structured, and supportive learning environment
What We’re Looking For:
*
HLTA status or equivalent experience
*
Minimum of 3 GCSEs (grade C/4 or above) including English and Maths
*
Experience delivering learning support and supervising classes
*
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff
