Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant – Chesterfield

Academics are seeking a dedicated Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Chesterfield. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and thrives on helping pupils with behavioural, emotional, social, and learning needs.

The Role

As a Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant, you will:

* Provide tailored support to pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.
* Work 1:1, in small groups, and within classrooms to deliver targeted interventions.
* Assist teachers with planning, resource preparation, and behaviour management.
* Take responsibility for leading sessions or covering classes in short-term teacher absence.
* Build positive relationships that encourage independence, confidence, and academic progress.
* Support pupils both on-site in Chesterfield and, when required, during home learning or safe and well visits.
* Contribute to safeguarding and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment for all learners.

Pay Rates

* £111 per day

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for a Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant who can demonstrate:

* Experience working with young people who have additional or behavioural needs.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting learners.
* A full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance (for occasional visits).
* GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

Desirable qualifications include Team Teach or behaviour management training, First Aid certification, and prior experience in alternative education or support roles in Chesterfield schools.
