Academics are recruiting on behalf of a new SEN alternative provision in the Basingstoke area who are looking to appoint a pragmatic, calm and compassionate Maths Teacher to join them in September 2022.
They are looking for someone who wants to work in a calm and supportive environment where you are given the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of local young people.
You will be joining a team of talented teachers from a mainstream and SEN background who are seeking to teach in a collaborative and inspiring education setting that always places the needs of their learners at the heart of their decision making.
The successful applicant will be responsible for designing and implementing the Maths curriculum for both key stages 3 (years 7-9) and 4 (years 10 & 11). You will have a passion for teaching you subject and supporting the students learning and well-being. Class sizes are between 2-8 students which allows you to meet their individual learning levels and emotional needs.
Main responsibilities
* Teach Maths to groups of learners from all abilities across years 7 – 11
* Lead on the creation of schemes of work to meet the curriculum requirements
* Ensure that all lessons are planned with clear aims and objectives
* Develop relationships with learners in order to support their needs
* Engage and encourage learners to participate in learning
* To encourage and foster intellectual curiosity
* Differentiate tasks and strategies to provide bespoke support for a variety of needs
* Support learners to progress towards personal and academic goals and targets
* Work as part of a team to incorporate agreed strategies in supporting mental health and SEND and meeting the individual needs of learners
* To encourage all learners to be actively engaged in their own learning and in reviewing their progress against targets
* Maintain registers, evaluations, academic and SEMH progress monitoring (and other records as necessary)

* Attend all session briefings and meetings with Head/Assistant Head and staff to keep up to date with individual learner progress
* Attend all safeguarding and child protection training
* To ensure that all lessons are delivered in line with the departmental schemes of work and school policies
* To check that all subject matter is effectively communicated and understood by all groups of learners
* To set appropriate learning tasks and challenges and ensure that it is regularly marked with constructive feedback
