Pay
There are two ways that you might be employed as a teacher in the UK.
The first is by working directly for the school. In this
instance, you will have a permanent contract for a period of time and the
school will pay you your salary on a monthly basis. Your rate of pay will
be determined by the Management team at the school and made known to you
when you receive your employment offer.
The second is working at a school or schools as a contractor for Academics.
You will be paid on a daily rate system and receive your pay weekly. Please
contact one of our consultants to discuss current daily rates of pay.
Taxation and National Insurance Deductions
You will have to pay tax national insurance whilst you are working in the
United Kingdom. This will be deducted from your weekly or monthly salary
and paid to the Inland Revenue by your employer on your behalf. The rate
of taxation is set by the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Economics Minister)
and you are legally obliged to pay. On average a good guideline to access
how much tax and national insurance you will pay is to deduct 22% from your
gross annual salary.
Academics can advise you with regards to obtaining
a tax rebate as an Overseas National. You are entitled to get a tax rebate
at various points within you term of employment in the UK. Please contact
one of our consultants to discuss getting your tax rebate.
