Getting Started
This guide introduces the other four guides in the series. It offers guidance on how best to use the materials and deals with some general issues that apply to all supply teachers in all contexts.


Core Subjects in Primary Schools

This guide covers key elements of subject knowledge in English, mathematics and science for the primary phase, including the National Strategies for teaching literacy and numeracy from Reception to Year 6.


Core Subjects in Secondary Schools
This guide covers key elements of subject knowledge in English, mathematics and science for the secondary phase, as well as the English, mathematics and science strands of the Key Stage 3 National Strategy.


Classroom and Behaviour Management
This guide incorporates essentials of good practice in classroom and behaviour management, generic to all phases of education. It includes ideas, techniques and practical strategies to support the work of supply teachers.


Filling the Gaps
This guide covers the revisions to the National Curriculum in 2000 and more detailed information about the foundation stage, ICT, personal, social and health education and citizenship.
