Inspectors from the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) act as regulators of the education system. you are expected to perform to the standards set out by Ofsted.
Ofsted states the following as requirements of a good lesson:
- All lessons should have a positive, measurable outcome
- Each lesson should contain a manageable number of objectives - usually
no more than two
- Each lesson should be broken into activity spans - the younger the children,
the shorter the activity
- The lesson should commence by recalling previous learning
- The teacher should ensure that all pupils remain on task
- When the task is complete. progress should be reviewed and more time given.
Or a different learning objective established
- Shortly before the end of the lesson, learning should be evaluated
- A clear record of the lesson and the pupils' progress should be left for
the class teacher
- The classroom should be left tidy
