The Special Needs Team at Academics place SEN Teachers and Support Staff, on a permanent and long term supply basis, across London and The Home Counties. We place the staff in SEN Schools and units attached to mainstream schools. Our staff work with children/students with Specific Learning Difficulties, Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Hearing and Visual Impairments and those with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.

Specific Learning Difficulties ( SPLD ):

Academics place SENCOs/Assistant SENCOs, Learning Support Teachers and Teaching Assistants/Learning Support Assistants in mainstream schools. They work with students with Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, Autism/Aspergers and ADHD. We have several Primary and Secondary mainstream clients. Over the last two years we have placed an Assistant SENCO, a Learning Support Teacher and a team of eight to ten TAS in a South London Academy.

Autism (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD):

We place Teachers and Support Staff in SEN Schools. These schools mainly cater for children with the above Special Educational Needs. They will be working to very low levels of the National Curriculum ( P levels ). Teaching Assistants work mainly on a one to one basis in our Special Schools. Again we have several SEN clients. Over the last year we have built up an exclusive relationship with an Independent School for children with Autism where we have placed numerous ASD teachers and TAs.

Hearing and Visual Impairments ( HI and VI ):

We mainly place HI and VI staff in specific units attached to Primary and Secondary mainstream schools. In particular we have placed several outstanding Teachers of the Deaf in these units.

Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD):

Our Client Schools are either PRUs ( Pupil Referral Units ) or EBD Schools. Both these Institutions cater for children that have been either temporarily excluded or permanently excluded from mainstream education. Some outstanding EBD practitioners have been placed as Teachers and one to one TAs in these schools.
